Monel & Alloy Metal Hose

When elastomers and thermoplastics run out of temperature or chemical headroom, metal hose takes over. Specialties Company supplies Monel metal hose and alloy corrugated hose assemblies welded to your end connections — for aggressive media, cryogenic and high-temperature service, and applications where permeation is unacceptable.

Alloys We Supply

  • Monel 400 — the standard choice for chlorine, hydrofluoric acid, seawater and reducing environments
  • Hastelloy C-276 and C-22 for severe oxidizing and mixed-acid service
  • 321 and 316L stainless for general chemical, steam and cryogenic applications
  • Inconel for high-temperature exhaust and process service
  • Bronze and other alloys on request

Corrugated Metal Hose Construction

Annular corrugated metal hose is the standard for industrial assemblies — the ring-shaped corrugations flex uniformly and drain fully, unlike helical construction. Over the core goes a wire braid that contains pressure and controls elongation. We supply unbraided, single-braid and double-braid braided metal hose depending on your working pressure and movement requirement.

End Connections

End fittings are welded, not crimped. ANSI 150#, 300# and higher flanges, NPT male and female, tube stubs for field welding, sanitary Tri-Clamp, camlock and union connections. End fittings are matched to the core alloy so you do not create a galvanic couple at the weld — Monel hose gets Monel ends.

Why Metal Hose

  • Temperature range far beyond rubber or PTFE, from cryogenic to well above 1000°F depending on alloy
  • Zero permeation — nothing migrates through the wall
  • Full vacuum capability
  • Fire-safe construction
  • Long service life in vibration and thermal-expansion applications

Typical Applications

Chlorine and acid transfer, cryogenic and LNG service, steam and hot oil lines, pump and compressor connectors absorbing vibration, thermal expansion loops, tank car and truck loading, exhaust and flue connections, and jacketed process lines.

Sizing It Correctly

Metal hose fails from over-bending and torsion far more often than from pressure. Send us the actual movement the assembly must absorb — travel, direction, cycle frequency and whether it is constant or intermittent flexing — and we will size the live length correctly rather than just matching the port size.
